Dr. Nima Mashhoon with Modern Smile Dentistry

Dr. Nima moved to the Central Coast in third grade from the Bay Area with his family and has been a local citizen of Santa Maria since. Dr. Nima attended all the local schools and attended California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, California for his undergraduate degree. He then escalated his education journey by receiving his Master’s degree in Biology from California State University, Bakersfield. After graduating Summa Cum Laude, Dr. Nima pursued his dreams of becoming a dentist by attending Western University of Health Sciences where he acquired his D.M.D. (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree. After graduation, Dr. Nima promptly moved back to the Central Coast to be closer to his family and be able to provide the best dental experience for the people of his community.

Dentistry has always been an interesting field for me. While growing up, I did not have a great experience with my dentist as he was rough and abrasive. Due to his actions and behaviors, I avoided going to the dental for nearly a decade. After suffering from tooth pain, I finally decided to seek dental treatment. I immediately noticed the difference between my new dentist, as he treated me like a person first and truly made me feel comfortable before performing any treatments. As the years passed, I realized what a positive influence he was on my life and how he changed my view of the profession. It was then I realized I wanted to make a change. Today I strive to provide the same high quality, caring, compassionate form of dentistry to each and every patient. Here at Modern Smile Dentistry, I have made my goal simple, I want to give you a reason to smile.

While dentistry can be challenging on the body and mind, it has many positives. I have always enjoyed not only alleviating people’s pains, as I too have experienced many dental pains growing up, but also changing the way you look and feel about yourself when it comes to your smiles and oral health. There are many people today who are afraid to smile, laugh, and truly enjoy life due to oral health issues, missing teeth, dental decay or even just not being confident in their smile. Through my years of dentistry, I have realized the joy I receive from changing a person’s smile so they are able to laugh, smile and enjoy life with confidence, and that feeling is simply…priceless. I have made a promise to myself to always do what is best for the patient and try and achieve their desired goals to the best of my abilities.
